Endoceras, a giant straight-shelled cephalopod of the Late Ordovician seas, glides across a frieze in the Minoan Marine Style once used for octopuses: its ruler-straight shell and trailing arms, two smaller shells far off, and a band of sea floor with stromatoporoid mounds, bryozoans, stalked crinoids, horn corals and brachiopods.
