Pikaia gracilens swims through East Asian ink painting as one stroke of black ink: a slender lance-shaped body breaking into dry-brush streaks, tiny gill-like tufts behind the head and two short tentacles, above an alga and a spiky sponge. From the Burgess Shale of British Columbia, about 505 million years ago, it is one of the earliest known chordates, the group that includes every animal with a backbone, us included. One black ink on Sand, White, Military Green or Tropical Blue. Made from lightweight 100% ring-spun cotton with a soft, sensory-friendly feel. Every order funds kelp restoration on the Pacific Northwest coast.
